Illegal Aliens or "Undocumented Workers" as some would call them, are streaming across our borders by the thousands every day.
I must say that if I needed to support my family and the only way I could really do that were to cross into another country where
employment was virtually guaranteed, I'd be over that line in a New York minute. And if I or mine were to need medical aid while
in that other country illegally, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment. Taking advantage of the "system" is something that millions of
American citizens do every day, I'd reckon, so why not me?
I, however, am one of the many more millions of legitimate American citizens who do the best they can to support the "system"
in an attempt to keep it from collapsing inward upon itself. It is, I am certain, a failing endeavor. The inward implosion has passed
the point of no return. The U.S. birth rate is stagnant and the ever billowing numbers of retirees drawing on the Social Security System
(aka the voting public) requires an ever expanding worker base to sustain it, and the only place to get these workers, is--you guessed
it: immigrants.
The government is staunchly against rounding up the tens of millions of illegals and exporting them as they are needed not only
because they comprise, by and large, the bulk of the stoop labor force of "cheap" workers whose monies they hope to reap to stave off
the ever increasing drain on the Social Security system. (Now that's another discussion....) And so we are spiraling into a black hole
which will, within 50 years, produce a society with a huge lower class, a virtually non-existant middle class, and a relatively small
number of extremely wealthy upper class citizens. Reminiscent of some countries to the south of us, is it not?
We have borrowed heavily -- trillions-- from such countries as China and Japan, to name two, to sustain our war in the Middle
East. The United States is currently the largest producer of goods in the world, but due to the present rate of outsource manufacturing
to countries whose laborers will do our work for a pittance, we are close to losing that status.
See, this immigration thing is a very complicated issue. If you examine the piece below (not written by me), you will see that
immigrants (illegal) are presenting a tremendous burden on our economy contrary to what sympathizers profess. "We need them to clean
our toilets," they cry; "to harvest our crops, to make our beds, to collect our garbage, to cut up our chickens, to work behind the
counters of myriad fast food restaurants for minimum wage; yes, even to watch our kids."
Hey, how come in America we are asked to press 1 for English?
